And.....action!
I'm a sucker for headlines, so I have a few sites bookmarked that offer RSS feeds and live bookmarks of various news stories. Gateworld is one of those sites that I troll on a semi-regular basis (as you may have already noticed from an earlier post). So, this afternoon (instead of working) I decided to take a look to see what was happening in the SG universe.
First: Stargate (both SG-1 and SG-A combined) have received six Gemni Award nominations. Woohoo! I hope they get to win in those categories, but in any case it's wonderful that they've received the nod and the nomination in the first place. You can check out the specific nominations as reported at Gateworld or you can take a look at the full list of nominees on the official Gemni Awards site.
And the highlight of my news search was the news about Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles and MGM. As reported at Gateworld (I couldn't find another reference to this anywhere else) that they have signed an agreement for Diamond to produce action figures for Stargate. According to the report, the first ones are supposed to be of Jack O'Neill, Daniel Jackson, Sam Carter, and Teal'c. Not much more is available at this time about release dates or prices or anything.
So, how many of us are going to make sure we pre-order these nice little bits of memorabilia? (You can put your hands down now.) Yeah, I know, I'm a sucker for memorabilia too. Can we say "bobble head dolls"? How about Stargate books? Or trading cards? Or board games? Comics? Patches? Pictures? Autographed pictures? Convention attendance… Okay, I'm scaring myself now.
But, I do have to say that it will be kind cool to own a Jack O'Neill action figure. I can have it face off with Daniel and pretend that they're arguing about rocks. I wonder if they'll make Teal'c's with hair or without. Maybe they'll make both: Teal'c and Chia Teal'c. And don't worry; I'll avoid all the Sam and Jack tussling. That's just wrong on so many levels. Although…I wonder if they're anatomically correct…hmmm...food for thought.

Oh, I'll be on that list. Even more so if the dolls are anatomically correct.
Wasn't it last year that the man at the SG Con in NJ said his wife wanted a Jack O'Neill blow up doll? Maybe this is the closest MGM (or RDA) would allow?
I can see it now, thousands of women acting out scenes with their Jack O'Neill dolls... kinda like that scene in Space Balls... with Lord Helmet...
And Jack and Sam... totally tussling... I wonder if they'll have the painted on clothes or removable ones....
I can 'stage' my smut!
heehee
(scrubbing your brain yet, dear?)
In the words of Jack O'Neill: "Look, there's so many reasons why this is wrong. And weird…And wrong…Did I mention wrong?"
Hmmm... I think you might have mentioned that you thought it was wrong... just a tad...maybe... possibly.... but you know... I'm not sure I'm really 'FEELING' your reply.
you know i can usually come up with a lot of things to say. but i think this occassion i might have to refrain from comment. after all i think enough of my conversations have been geared toward the sexual reproductive systems today.
but i think it was RDA that said at one point that the action figures should be anatomically correct. i could be wrong. and honestly i'm afraid to google it as for what may come up.
Oh, I'm sure you could get LOADS of interesting things on THAT google search. Though Yahoo might be MORE interesting... apparently if you search for "breast huge sucked" you get a link to Gail Delaney's author site.
I'm SURE anatomically correct action figures would gather ALL sorts of interesting links.
I don't think I want to know...and I'm not sure any explanation will be sufficient for THAT particular Yahoo or Google search. ::shaking head::
...wrong on SO many levels...
so dee, have you learned anything tonite????
;)
Not as much as I did the other night, but these nightly conversations are very enlightening. How about yourself? Look for any laundromats lately?
She learned not to 'push' people to reply to her posts.
You know what they say... be careful what you wish for...
:-)
And you asked the bad influence....
oh not lately. not lately. there's not a Fluff n Fold by the cabin so Chris has to do his own laundry.
We should have a nightly 'educate Dee' conversation.
What should be our next topic, yllek?
I did not push. ::crosses arms:: I merely thought you might find part of my comments amusing. I know Yllek would because we talked about it this afternoon after I found it and when I wasn't working. You know, when I should have been doing something constructive. Who knew this afternoon's conversation would wander into some odd topics? Yllek has some interesting classes...
you know. people always tell us to share.
and while i have not much to share in the physical sense because i am a poor city kid trying to make it small town america if all i can share is some what alternative knowledge. then so be it.
what can i say dee. i am in Graphic Arts.
I can't see myself getting the figures...the 1000 Star Wars action figures I already have would probably attack and eat them while I was asleep.
All I can add to this conversation is:
O_o
Jack and Teal'c could hold off the star wars action figures.
and besides i already have a stargate. the neon green version of thor just doesn't do it justice.
I'm not so sure about that, Rich. Granted, the ratio of Star Wars figures to Stargate figures isn't very pretty, but we are talking about SG-1. You know, they beat the odds on a weekly basis. Give it a shot. And besides, what's four more at this point? ;-)
Oh Lord.
I'm spending two and a half weeks with Tricia.
I don't think I'll be returning the same person....
;)
